Client, Product and Industry
ME TOO RISING is an interactive website chronicling the rise and journey of the popular “ME TOO” movement across different countries around the globe. This is an experimental one page website, promoting social activism and awareness. It features past, present and future reports, highlighting campaigns and hashtags that align with top search trends surrounding the movement.

Underlying technology
The site uses WebGL, SVG, 3.js and content above fold as the main technology in development.
UX/UI
It’s a dark colour scheme and the site opens with an interesting introduction followed by a soothing soundtrack, with overlapping voices of women, adding a compelling ambience to the site. Then a large globe with bright lights appears, using a Content Above Fold feature that enables you to toggle to different countries and find links to the progress of the movement in that region/area, without necessarily scrolling through the page.
To interact with the globe, spin with the mouse, click on the bright lights to access the info about that country. Drag the bar at the bottom of the screen back and forth to choose a specific date. It’s not very easy to navigate without advanced knowledge.
There should be a search box to allow persons to search a specific movement. Featuring audio integration, the site feels very modern and compelling and the graphics are stunning.
Content
The information presented on the site was reliable. There were synopses of each article available using the trending hashtags so the user could know what topics would mainly be covered. When the user click on a link, they are transported to the website where they can find the article. The site also has a listing of sexual assault resources available for users to report any personal distress.
Compatibility, Performance, Responsiveness
Computer- no issues with adaptability to screen size
Phone- all features still available with modifications to screen size, touch achieves same functions as mouse except the hover. Loads quickly on both gaming and office laptops, and no glitching. There’s a slight breakdown with speed/flow of the website on a cellular device but it performs well on home wifi.
Why does it work
The user can access links directly to reliable sources and the soundtrack feels very enveloping. A calming mood and contrasting colours compel the natural impulse to interact with the globe. It puts all the important information about such a globally recognized movement in one place, making it easy for researchers to find.
Overview
Me Too Rising is an audience conscious website, focusing on spreading awareness and providing information on an important global movement. The visuals were aesthetically pleasing and the site was up to date with the latest info on the movement. The navigation was medium difficulty, but simple to use once the user figured it out. Usage on a mobile device was slightly glitchy, but the site was compatible with different browsers and adaptable.
